Why joining Flinq as a NED was an easy decision

Paul Fosse explains why Flinq's team, client focus and approach to relationships made joining as a Non-Executive Director an easy decision.

Why joining Flinq as a NED was an easy decision

I’m thrilled to announce my new role as a Non-Executive Director at Flinq. This decision was straightforward for several reasons:

The team

From the moment I first met the Flinq founders, I was struck by their integrity and commitment. These are people who genuinely care about what they are building — not just as a business, but as something that makes a real difference to the firms and clients they serve.

In my experience, a venture depends on the people behind it. A strong product is not enough without the values, drive and chemistry to develop it well. I saw those qualities in the Flinq team.

Their backgrounds span trust administration, banking, technology and financial services. More than their skills, however, it was their character that impressed me: honest, straightforward and committed to doing the right thing for clients.

People first

Flinq’s people-first philosophy is reflected in its decisions, its team and the way it works with clients and partners.

The team understands that the platform is only as useful as the relationships and work it supports. Technology is the enabler; people are the purpose.

This people-first approach extends to how they build their product. Features, design decisions and integrations are considered through the lens of the end user. Will this make someone’s day easier? Will this reduce frustration? Will this help them serve their clients better? Those questions shape product priorities and trade-offs.

Pride, ownership and accountability

The Flinq team takes ownership not only of the product, but of the outcomes it supports for clients.

When a process is streamlined or a manual task is automated, the team takes pride in the improvement.

That ownership comes with accountability. When something does not go to plan, they take responsibility, communicate openly and work to resolve it.

Client focused

Flinq focuses on the people who use the platform every day to manage cash for their own clients.

The team spends significant time understanding the day-to-day reality of their users. They visit client offices, sit with administrators and treasury teams, and observe how work actually gets done. This deep understanding of the client experience informs every aspect of the product.

That direct understanding shapes the product and the priorities behind it.

Relationships over revenue

Flinq takes a long-term view of relationships, favouring durable client value over a series of short-term transactions. That approach shapes onboarding, product decisions and ongoing support.

This resonates with me. The strongest business relationships I have seen were built on genuine partnership rather than transactional exchange.

Technology with a human touch

Flinq is a technology company, but its human support matters just as much as the platform.

Adopting new technology can be difficult for firms that have relied on manual processes for years. Flinq therefore puts time into onboarding, training and ongoing support rather than simply handing over a login.

When a client has a question, they can speak to someone who understands their context. That combination of technology and human support helped make my decision to join an easy one.

Life is short, and it is about building a team you want to work with outside of work. The Flinq team is exactly that — a group of people I genuinely enjoy spending time with, who share my values, and who are building something I truly believe in. I could not be more excited about the journey ahead.
